Spencer Scanlon is an Asheville-based collector, visual artist, jewelry maker, and longtime music industry fixture with an eye for things that feel rare, strange, storied, or nearly lost to time.

From his home in the mountains of Western North Carolina, he scours Appalachia for overlooked treasures: fine art, folk art, rare gemstones, vintage and mid-century furniture, rare and vintage band tees, outsider objects, and industrial relics from a forgotten era.

His handmade jewelry pairs unusual stones and found objects with singular designs, while his broader collection reflects a lifelong attraction to pieces with presence, history, and a little mystery. Everything is chosen because he absolutely loves it. Part gallery, part curiosity cabinet, Secret Portals was born when his personal collection got a little out of hand.
